Ich habe es getan – die Lumix G9M2 erworben.
Nach fast sechs Jahren kam die Ankündigung der Lumix DC-G9 und damit hat Panasonic seinen Nachfolger angekündigt, die Lumix DC-G9 II. Dies ist das High-End-Modell des Unternehmens für Fotofotografen und die erste Lumix Micro Four Thirds-Kamera überhaupt, die über einen Phasendetektions-Autofokus verfügt. Nun mit erweiterter Zielgruppe mit überraschend langer Liste an Videofunktionen. Die G9 II ist eine Neugestaltung und basiert auf dem Gehäuse der Vollformat-Modelle Lumix S5 II und S5IIX.
Ja ich habe sie gekauft und meine Frau soll sie hauptsächlich als Knipse benutzen. Somit ist sie beschäftigt, wenn ich meine Burgen-Safaris „abarbeite“. Natürlich wird dieses Prachtstück auch von mir eingesetzt.
Die G9 II basiert auf einem Sensor, der mit dem der GH6 verwandt ist, der laut Panasonic jedoch sowohl auf Hardware- als auch auf Softwareebene überarbeitet wurde. Der offensichtlichste Unterschied besteht darin, dass die Version der G9 II über Phasenerkennungselemente verfügt, die sie zum ersten Micro-Four-Thirds-Lumix-Modell machen, das von Natur aus einen tiefenabhängigen Autofokus bietet. Na das hört sich ja gut an. Auch konnte ich feststellen, dass die Reaktionszeit sich enorm verbessert hat.
Im Gegensatz zum Vormodell G9, nicht grade ein Videomodell, verfügt die G9 II über alles was ich als Hobbyfilmer brauche. Panasonic sagt, dass es sich um eine Kamera für Fotofotografen handelt warum ich sie gekauft habe, aber die Anzahl der Videofunktionen sorgen dafür, dass es sich auf jeden Fall fast so hybrid anfühlt wie die GH6. Love it – eine verkappte GH7? Mal die ersten Firmware Updates abwarten. Tatsache und getestet habe ich die Aufzeichnung auf den Recorder über HDMI-Schnittstelle. Gewollte ProRes 422 HQ in VLog und genau das hat der Ninja V+ auch geliefert.
Versucht habe ich es erst oder gleich mit RAW-Einstellung. Der Gedanke dabei: Meine RAWs in Davinci Resolve finalisieren. Geht nicht da Resolve keine RAW bearbeitet außer seine BRAW. So ist es mit allen Editoren die ich besitze. Nachdem ich ausgiebig recherchiert hatte gab es auch ein Ergebnis. Die RW2s der Lumix müssen zunächst konvertiert werden. Ah ja, ich verstehe ähm oder auch nicht. Später konnte ich auch erfahren das so jeder Kamerahersteller seine spezielle RAW-Suppe kocht. Gut, aber warum bekommen wir von diesem Hersteller nicht ein Konvertierungsprogramm zum Kamerakauf?
RAW-Dateien können als proprietäre Formate nur mit spezifischer Software bearbeitet werden. Es gibt viele verschiedene Arten von RAW-Dateien, sie variieren je nach Kamerahersteller und manchmal auch nach Sensormodell. Die RAW-Dateien einer Lumix-Kamera unterscheiden sich z. B. von denen einer Nikon. Vor allem bei ganz neuen High-End-Kameras besteht oft das Problem, dass vorhandene Software noch nicht auf die neuesten Entwicklungen abgestimmt wurde.
Meine Lösung hatte Adobe mit dem „Digital Nagative Converter“ also DNG-Converter. DNG-Dateien gleichen die Probleme aus, die durch die Vielzahl an RAW-Formaten entstehen. Als einheitliches, fast universelles Open-Source-Format stellt DNG sicher, dass ich meine Fotodateien immer öffnen. Soviel zum Verstehen der Foto Welt.

Hier kommt DxO Photolab 7.1 ins Spiel. Das Arbeiten mit RAW-Dateien. DxO war mir bekannt aus der Vergangenheit. Es gab da eine kostenlose Version. Daran erinnerte ich mich und habe mich mal weiter informiert. Es kam zu eineinem Download mit Freischaltung für 31 Tage. Die Testversion hat keine Einschränkungen und ... DxO kann original RW2 bearbeiten. Kein konvertieren. DxO arbeitet mit kameraspezifischen Modulen. Das GH6-Modul ist vorhanden für G9II wird es in 12.2023 zur Verfügung stehen. Die RW2 meiner GH6 werden problemlos berarbeitet.
Was macht DxO PhotoLab mit den RAW-Bilder?
Falls ein Originalfoto im RAW-Format vorliegt, entwickelt DxO PhotoLab meine Bilder mit dem derzeit besten RAW-Konverter (sagt DxO ). Dieser Konverter erzeugt ein Bild ohne Artefakte.
DxO PhotoLab korrigiert ohne mein Dazutun vier optische Abbildungsfehler.
DxO PhotoLab korrigiert die Belichtung meines Bildes (nur bei RAW-Dateien) ganz automatisch, damit Spitzlichter nicht „ausgefressen“ und sogar teilweise ausgebrannte Spitzlichter wieder hergestellt werden. Beste Ergebnisse erzielt man mit RAW-Dateien.
DxO PhotoLab bietet eine einzigartige automatische Korrektur von Kontrast und Belichtung in den Tiefen, vergleichbar mit einem Aufhellblitz, die kontrastreichen Bilder oder Gegenlichtaufnahmen radikal verbessert.
Jederzeit Ist ein manueller Feinschliff möglich, um Bilder meinem Geschmack anzupassen.
Also bedeutet es, ich muss die RW2 nicht vorher konvertieren. Dieses läuft bei DxO im Hintergrund ab.
Also: „RAW-Format” bezeichnet das Datenformat von Bildern, die nicht in der Kamera verarbeitet wurden. Sondern es ist zum Wiedergeben und Bearbeiten (Entwickeln) eine spezielle Software erforderlich. Und dafür finde ich PhotoLab gut geeignet. Klar kann die G9II auch das Datenformat JPG und dafür ist kein PhotoLab erforderlich. Soviel zu RAW und hier mehr zu PhotoLab von DxO.
Doch zur G9II und was sie sonst noch an Überraschungen hat.

Alles verstanden? Ich nicht und ist auch nicht schlimm. Hauptsache es funktioniert und das tut es laut meinem Test.

Im Gegensatz zur G9, der noch viele Videofunktionen fehlten, verfügt die G9II erstaunlich über alles was wir Videofilmer uns so wünschen. Panasonic selbst schwört, dass es sich um eine Kamera für Fotofotografen handelt, aber wenn man die Anzahl der Videoformaten und -funktionen berücksichtigt – einschließlich V-Log und Open Gate 5,8K sorgt alles dafür, dass es sich fast so hybrid anfühlt wie meine GH6. Es behält den HDMI-Anschluss in voller Größe der S5 II-Serie bei und kann sogar direkt auf eine USB-C-SSD (oder auch USB-C-CFexpress) aufnehmen. Und in RAW will Panasonic mit der Firmware 2.0 noch nachliefern.
Bei all meinen Tests habe ich festgestellt, dass die G9II auch auf CFexpress aufzeichnet und dass in ProRes 422HQ, 4K mit 10bit. Menü-Voreinstellung: USB-SSD muss auf ON stehen. Klar hat sie nicht den Einschub für die Karte doch mit einem USB-C Kabel und dazu einen Adapter geht es bei mir. Ist doch was für uns Videofilmer.
Was hat also die GH6 was die G9II nicht hat? Ja richtig, der eingebaute Lüfter. Und dass die GH6 durch die CFexpress-Kartenunterstützung (kann G9II auch, siehe vor), die Raw-Videoausgabemodi (coming soon) und den eingebauten Lüfter vorerst ihre Hybridkrone behält. Ja gut, die GH6 soll die Krone behalten. Panasonic sagt, dass G9II-Fotografen diese Kamera eher als B-Cam und nicht als primäres Run-and-Gun-Setup betrachten sollten und dass das Fehlen eines Lüfters beim Aufnehmen von hochauflösenden Videos in heißen Umgebungen zum Problem werden könnte. Klingt plausibel.

In letzter Zeit drehte sich alles um das neue Autofokussystem der Lumix G9ll mit den Phasendetektions-AF-Pixel, die dem Sensor hinzugefügt wurden und dazu noch einiges mehr. Es konnte mich überzeugen. Die Konzentration auf den Phasendetektions-Autofokus hat natürlich einen guten Grund, da diese Ergänzung der Kamera viel mehr Flexibilität verleiht. Einige der neuen Aspekte des AF-Systems sind bewährte Funktionen, die laut Panasonic von der Lumix S5ll und S5llX weitergegeben wurden, einige sind jedoch auch einzigartig für diese Kamera und werden zum ersten Mal vorgestellt.
Eine wichtige Änderung betrifft die benutzerdefinierte AF-Einstellung (für uns Videofilmer), ein Modus, mit dem wir bestimmen können, wie die AF-Übergänge aussehen und nicht, wie der AF auf die Art des Motivs reagieren soll. In diesem Modus können wir die Kamera anweisen, Motive schneller oder langsamer zu fokussieren, um Übergängen ein knackigeres oder weicheres Aussehen zu verleihen. Wir können auch die Empfindlichkeit der AF-Reaktion erhöhen oder verringern – also wie lange es dauert, bis die Kamera auf das Erscheinen eines neuen Motivs reagiert. Ist eine Möglichkeit, welche sicher reichlichen Anklang findet.
Während in der Fotografie oft Wert auf eine schnelle AF-Reaktion gelegt wird, bevorzugen wir Filmer häufig eine langsamere Reaktion, die einen sanfteren Fokusübergang erzeugt.
Die Integration des Phasendetektions-AF und die neuen Optionen, die jetzt in der Lumix G9ll angeboten werden, haben das Fokussierungssystem erheblich verbessert. Benutzerdefinierte Modi und die künstliche Intelligenz der Motiverkennung machen das Aufnehmen bewegter Motive wesentlich leichter.
Man muss es selbst erleben. Panasonic hat hier (MFT-System) einen starken Schub gegeben.

Mehr Video als erwartet nun mit Firmware 2.0
Panasonic LUMIX G9II Firmware-Update 2.0. Ein Hammer für uns Filmer. G9II nun die heimliche GH7 ?
Mit dem Firmware-Update Version 2.0 ermöglicht Panasonic die 12-Bit-RAW-Videoausgabe über HDMI für die LUMIX G9II. Das ist ein Schritt für uns Filmer. Laut Panasonic kann ich in verschiedenen Auflösungen aufnehmen, darunter 5,7K, C4K, 5,8K (4:3) und 4,4K (4:3). Was die Bildraten betrifft, sollte in C4K mit 120p/100p und 5,7K mit 60p/50p aufzunehmen sein.
Als Besitzer eines Blackmagic Design Video Assist 5″ oder 7″ 12G HDR, kannst du mit diesem Update Filmmaterial in 12-Bit-BRAW aufnehmen.
Ich als Atomos-Besitzer kann extern in Apple ProRes RAW auf den Monitor/Rekorder V, Ninja V+, oder einige andere Atomos aufnehmen. Unter Umständen muss die Recorder-Firmware updated werden. Bei meinem Ninja V+ war es der Fall.
Ich denke diese Firmware dürfte für uns, die bereits in die Panasonic Lumix G9 II investiert haben, sehr aufregend sein. Dieses Paket ist eins der besten Optionen für eine spiegellose Digitalkamera und sollte dem MFT-System einen erheblichen Aufschwung verleihen.
Vorteile der RAW-Aufnahme. Da ich RAW-Videos aufnehme, zeichne ich vor der Bildverarbeitung die Sensordaten der Kamera auf. Dadurch kann ich einen größeren Dynamikbereich und mehr Details vom Kamerasensor erfassen. Ich kann auch verschiedene Komprimierungseinstellungen auswählen. Das bedeutet, dass ich je nach Art des Projekts, zwischen höherer Bildqualität oder weniger Speicherplatz wählen kann. Darüber hinaus habe ich mit einem Editor auch viel mehr Flexibilität bei der Postproduktion mit RAW-Dateien. Ich kann beispielsweise den ISO-Wert und den Weißabgleich meines Filmmaterials so ändern, als ob ich diese Einstellungen in der Kamera ändern würde.
RAW-Videos haben leider einige Nachteile, da nicht jede Bearbeitungssoftware mit den Dateien umgehen kann. Darüber hinaus sind RAW-Dateien viel größer als die komprimierten Dateiformate, die normalerweise in der Kamera aufgezeichnet werden. Das bedeutet, dass ich große, schnelle Laufwerke zum Speichern und Bearbeiten benötige. Aber es muss nicht unbedingt RAW sein. Dies entscheidet jeder G9II-Besitzer individuell. Und ja, all meine RAWs, ob Video oder Foto, werden mit der LUT VLog aufgenommen.
Für viele Videofilmer von uns können RAW-Videos übertrieben sein. Wenn du jedoch in höchstmöglicher Qualität aufnehmen möchtest, ist es großartige Wahl. Zumal ich häufig das Footage an Dritt-Cutter weitergebe. Sobald du mal RAW-Videos in der Postproduktion farbkorrigiert hast, ich bin sicher du möchtest nicht mehr auf komprimierte Formate zurückgreifen. Natürlich fallen die zusätzlichen Kosten an, die durch den Kauf eines externen Rekorders entstehen oder mindest eine externe USB-SSD. Aber man gönnt sich ja sonst nichts .

Bildstabilisator
Den kann ich nicht vergessen dank meines „Hand-Tremor"(s). Im Einsatz kam die G9II bei mir, natürlich wetterbedingt, in den meisten Fällen im Minimal-Pack, also Kamera, Stativ, Objektiv und ein Vario-ND-Filter. Ohne Stativ ist ein ordentlicher Bildstabilisator schon wichtig und damit ist die G9MII gut bestückt. Mit doppeltem optischem Bildstabilisator sind ruhige Aufnahmen aus der Hand möglich. Bei den Versuchen ist mir klar geworden, auch der wirklich gute Bildstabilisator der G9II ist kein vollständiger Ersatz für ein Stativ, wenn es stürmt 🌬 wie in den Tagen zwischen Xmas 2023 und Neujahr 2024.
All meine Test sind ganz auf meine Bedürfnisse zugeschnitten gewesen. Doch muss ich unterstreichen, der Stabi der G9II ist klasse. Mein Test bei den Fotos, gleiches Motiv, gleiche Tageszeit, gleicher Setup aus der Hand und vom Stativ - nach der Entwicklung durch PhotoLab 7.2 war für mich kein Qualitäts-Unterschied zu erkennen.

Bemerkung: Der Ablauf meines Berichts mutet vielleicht etwas ungeordnet an. Es ist einfach so vom Ablauf wie ich die G9II erlebe.
Einige G9II Benutzer beklagen das Fehlen des LCD-Panels auf der Oberseite der Kamera. Ich nicht - da ich so etwas nicht kenne kann ich es auch nicht vermissen.

Schneller aufgrund Richtungs- und Entfernungsinformationen.
Kann bewegten Motiven schnell folgen.
Prädiktiver Fokus (kann die notwendige Position zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme errechnen und zeitgerecht anfahren).
Kann bei bewegten Motiven die Änderung der Distanz und die Geschwindigkeit mit der diese erfolgt messen und erlaubt damit die ständige Nachführung der Bewegung.
In Kombination mit dem AE-Sensor ist bei der automatischen Messfeldwahl eine effektive Mustererkennung (und -verfolgung) möglich (und sehr schnell!).
Alles verstanden? Ich nicht und ist auch nicht schlimm. Hauptsache es funktioniert und das tut es laut meinem Test.

Doch zurück zum Autofocus.

Ich denke diese Firmware dürfte für uns, die bereits in die Panasonic Lumix G9 II investiert haben, sehr aufregend sein. Dieses Paket ist eins der besten Optionen für eine spiegellose Digitalkamera und sollte dem MFT-System einen erheblichen Aufschwung verleihen.
Vorteile der RAW-Aufnahme. Da ich RAW-Videos aufnehme, zeichne ich vor der Bildverarbeitung die Sensordaten der Kamera auf. Dadurch kann ich einen größeren Dynamikbereich und mehr Details vom Kamerasensor erfassen. Ich kann auch verschiedene Komprimierungseinstellungen auswählen. Das bedeutet, dass ich je nach Art des Projekts, zwischen höherer Bildqualität oder weniger Speicherplatz wählen kann. Darüber hinaus habe ich mit einem Editor auch viel mehr Flexibilität bei der Postproduktion mit RAW-Dateien. Ich kann beispielsweise den ISO-Wert und den Weißabgleich meines Filmmaterials so ändern, als ob ich diese Einstellungen in der Kamera ändern würde.
RAW-Videos haben leider einige Nachteile, da nicht jede Bearbeitungssoftware mit den Dateien umgehen kann. Darüber hinaus sind RAW-Dateien viel größer als die komprimierten Dateiformate, die normalerweise in der Kamera aufgezeichnet werden. Das bedeutet, dass ich große, schnelle Laufwerke zum Speichern und Bearbeiten benötige. Aber es muss nicht unbedingt RAW sein. Dies entscheidet jeder G9II-Besitzer individuell. Und ja, all meine RAWs, ob Video oder Foto, werden mit der LUT VLog aufgenommen.
Für viele Videofilmer von uns können RAW-Videos übertrieben sein. Wenn du jedoch in höchstmöglicher Qualität aufnehmen möchtest, ist es großartige Wahl. Zumal ich häufig das Footage an Dritt-Cutter weitergebe. Sobald du mal RAW-Videos in der Postproduktion farbkorrigiert hast, ich bin sicher du möchtest nicht mehr auf komprimierte Formate zurückgreifen. Natürlich fallen die zusätzlichen Kosten an, die durch den Kauf eines externen Rekorders entstehen oder mindest eine externe USB-SSD. Aber man gönnt sich ja sonst nichts .

Bildstabilisator
Den kann ich nicht vergessen dank meines „Hand-Tremor"(s). Im Einsatz kam die G9II bei mir, natürlich wetterbedingt, in den meisten Fällen im Minimal-Pack, also Kamera, Stativ, Objektiv und ein Vario-ND-Filter. Ohne Stativ ist ein ordentlicher Bildstabilisator schon wichtig und damit ist die G9MII gut bestückt. Mit doppeltem optischem Bildstabilisator sind ruhige Aufnahmen aus der Hand möglich. Bei den Versuchen ist mir klar geworden, auch der wirklich gute Bildstabilisator der G9II ist kein vollständiger Ersatz für ein Stativ, wenn es stürmt 🌬 wie in den Tagen zwischen Xmas 2023 und Neujahr 2024.
All meine Test sind ganz auf meine Bedürfnisse zugeschnitten gewesen. Doch muss ich unterstreichen, der Stabi der G9II ist klasse. Mein Test bei den Fotos, gleiches Motiv, gleiche Tageszeit, gleicher Setup aus der Hand und vom Stativ - nach der Entwicklung durch PhotoLab 7.2 war für mich kein Qualitäts-Unterschied zu erkennen.

ISO und Rauschen
Erwähnen möchte ich das die G9M2 mit ihrem 25-Megapixel-Sensor genauso viele Details liefert wie ihre ähnlich teuren Mitbewerber als Vollformatkamera. Bei niedrigen ISO-Einstellungen sind meine Fotos beeindruckend rauschfrei. Doch ab ISO 800 zeigt ein Foto deutlich mehr Rauschen, und ab ISO 3200 werden feine Details nicht mehr so prickelnd. Klar kann bei höheren ISO-Werten und damit mehr Rauschen mein PhotoLab bei der Entwicklung noch vieles retten.
Die Macher des Fotoblogs von Hamburger-Fotospots.de haben eine sehr hilfreiche Cheatcard entworfen, es wird der Einfluss von Blende, Belichtungszeit und ISO auf die bildliche Gestaltung eines Fotos dargestellt.

Bemerkung: Der Ablauf meines Berichts mutet vielleicht etwas ungeordnet an. Es ist einfach so vom Ablauf wie ich die G9II erlebe.
Einige G9II Benutzer beklagen das Fehlen des LCD-Panels auf der Oberseite der Kamera. Ich nicht - da ich so etwas nicht kenne kann ich es auch nicht vermissen.
Hierfür hat die G9II den Button „Disp.“ (Kamerarückseite/rechts/unten). So oft klicken bis zum Bedienfeld. Alle hellausgeleuchteten Felder sind änderbar. Sehr praktisch und ich kenne es bereits von der GH6.
